El blog a partir del 2013 contará con una nueva sección donde publicaré diferentes videos, así que aquí les dejo el primero de ellos donde se resume, la primera parte del viaje publiqué en el post “And this is how the Adventure Started”. Seleccioné la canción de Bruno Mars “Locked Out Of Heaven ” por que literalmente fue el soundtrack que escuché muchísimo durante todo el trayecto. Espero que lo disfruten!

And this is how the Adventure Started :D

As I promised I am to start posting about the wonderful vacations we just had. It all started as Edu and I travel from Panama to Punta Arenas (Chile) where were to meet my sister and mon and engage on a cruised extravaganza to explore “La Patagonia”. We started in Panama stopping for lunch in Lima. We had a wonderful ceviche and I bought myself a beautiful huge white Peruvian artisanal alpaca hat. Later we arrived to Santiago de Chile. Santiago is beautiful, is such clean and organized city. We had breakfast at this street with a bunch of cafes which was super cute to later go to “El Palacio de La Moneda” which is the government workplace as well as a museum open to the public and we got to play with interactive toys pretending to be a Jackson Pollock and visit an art exposition from Peggy Guggenheim´s private collection. It had Picasso, Pollock and Kandinsky among other great painters who were great friends with her as shown in pictures. They were also showing some of her accessories, they were showing a pair of sunglass Karl Lagerfeld gave her that were to die for. We also went to the fish market, this is located at an old train station and it has such a great vibe to it! Plus the food was delicious; they had the longest variety of sea food, oysters and such! Yum!!! For dessert we ate the biggest naturally grown strawberries and cherries! It was delish!

We had a day to rest and get to know Santiago and at night, we flew to Punta Arenas. LAN Chile has quite beautiful planes, all of them brand new and they all promote an eco-friendly ensemble to it. We arrived to Punta Arenas during their summer and it was very cold. Apparently is never hot there. Also it’s extremely windy which makes the trees be naturally tilted to its side. The fauna is also different they had beautiful flowers that I never really seem them before. The town is beautiful and a lot bigger that you imagine. As you walk by the city´s pier you get to see the point where the Strait of Magellan is! (We then navigated it in the cruised). They have beautiful café’s with a traditional European vibe but also Chilean mixed to it. The specialty is a roasted lamb, which by just looking at it you mouth becomes watery. We did a city tour with a nice taxi man from the Casino Dream Punta Arenas´ Hotel. It’s a very beautiful city. By the time we finished all of this we got ready to get in the cruise. Voy a empezar a escribir tal y como les prometí sobre las magníficas vacaciones que tuve. Todo empezó cuando partí con Edu desde Panamá hacia Punta Arenas en Chile, ahí nos encontramos con mi mamá que ansiosamente nos esperaba junto a mi hermana… Así empezó nuestro extravagante viaje hacía un “Crucero Explorador” por la Patagonia.

No todo fue tan sencillo como se lee, para llegar a la capital de la Región de Magallanes y Antártica Chilena, tuvimos que volar en un avión desde Panamá hasta Lima, Perú (parecía bus colectivo con alas). Lo bueno es que a pesar de las horas de vuelo, aprovechamos la escala para almorzar unos ceviches deliciosos, también tuve la oportunidad de comprarme un sombrero tradicional peruano de alpaca (gigante).

Pasada la espera, tomamos otro vuelo rumbo a Santiago de Chile donde pernoctaríamos para descansar. Despertamos muy temprano para aprovechar de conocer la ciudad, desayunamos en un pasaje peatonal lleno de “Mini Cafés” de lo más lindos y al terminar, nos dirigimos a la Casa de la Moneda. Este palacio es la sede del Gobierno, pero también funciona en su parte inferior, como Centro Cultural abierto a todo el público. Al ingresar, jugamos con actividades interactivas que te hacían simular las técnicas de pintura utilizadas por Jackson Pollock, luego visitamos la exposición donde mostraban la colección de arte privada de Peggy Guggenheim. En esta muestra, adicional a las obras de Picasso, Pollock y otros artistas, también exhibían accesorios privados de Guggenheim, entre ellos, unos lentes que le había obsequiado Karl Lagerfeld que eran simplemente de morir!.

Al medio día y hambrientos, decidimos dirigirnos al Mercado Central. Es el lugar donde uno realmente entiende el gentilicio de una población… está ubicado dentro de una estructura de hierro fundido (Glasgow, Escocia 1860), que asemeja una antigua estación de tren… tiene la mejor de las vibras y como si fuera poco, la comida que sirven es excelente, tienen la más amplia variedad de mariscos, pescados y ostras, Súper Sabroso! como postre, puedes comerte las fresas y cerezas más grandes del mundo, fue simplemente delicioso.

Descansados y después de conocer Santiago, volamos esa noche a Punta Arenas con LAN Chile. La aeronave que utilizamos resultó ser Increíble, tienen aviones muy nuevos, algunos son los más modernos del mundo (Boeing 787 Dreamliner 2012), son “ecológicos”, de lo más lindos y confortables. Llegamos a Punta Arenas en lo que según indicaban era su “verano”… les puedo decir que estaba completamente helado, al parecer siempre es bastante frío. Nos contaron que corrimos con suerte porque había “buen clima” (10 grados) y que a veces, los vientos son muy fuertes (por eso todo los arboles están inclinado hacia un lado). Se dice que los vientos pueden llegar a tener 120 km/h.

La vegetación en Punta Arenas también es diferente, tenían unas flores que nunca había visto y eran hermosas. La ciudad es preciosa y mucho más grande de lo que me imaginaba… Tienen cafeterías muy bonitas con una vibra muy Europea, pero a su vez, con su toque Chileno. La especialidad gastronómica de la región es el cordero y tan solo con ver lo apetitoso que luce, puedes saborearlo. En Punta Arenas se observa lo que llaman el “Estrecho de Magallanes” (lo navegamos) y toda una ciudad especial, diferente a lo conocido hasta el momento. En el poco tiempo que tuvimos, hicimos una especie de “city tour” con un taxista muy amable que trabajaba para el Casino Dream Punta Arenas Hotel. El único hotel “Premium”, bastante nuevo y muy moderno para la infraestructura modesta de la ciudad. Llegada la hora, nos dirigimos al barco: Crucero Explorador Australis! De ahí vendrá otro post, disfruten las imágenes.

Halloween Fun!

So Halloween was a little mellow this year. Nevertheless we kept the spirit going by making some Halloween pumpkins.  It was actually quiet fun and once again I was surprise by the boyfriend creative skills. My pumpkin was cute and tiny; his was huge and had a whole design going on… Think it was inspired on Jack from the nightmare before Christmas. Both of them turn out pretty good. Here some pics 🙂

La “Noche de Brujas” este año estuvo tranquila, sin embargo, se mantuvo el espíritu e hicimos un par de calabazas al mejor estilo de Halloween. La verdad fue bastante divertido y una vez más, mi novio me sorprendió con sus dotes creativos. La calabaza que intervine era chiquita y linda, la de él era gigante y con todo un diseño elaborado. Creo que se inspiró en “Jack” de la película “Pesadilla Antes de la Navidad”. Las dos quedaron de lo mejor. Aquí les dejo algunas fotos 🙂

 

 

I am Malala

The fourteen year old Pakistani girl, blogger and activist, Malala Yousafzai, was shot on October 9th by a Taliban gunmen as she returned home from her school.  She was taken to the UK after being shot in her head and neck. Thank God the doctors say she has a good chance to recover. Lets Hope So!.

You might wonder why a fourteen year old girl is such a threat to the Taliban movement. Well at the age of eleven she started blogging under a pseudonym for the BBC detailing her life under the Taliban rule, and how they attempted to control the valley where she lives. She also wrote her views on promoting girls education on islamic communities.

Her life was filmed by the New York Times in a documentary that got mixed with the Pakistani military intervening the region culminating the Second Battle of Swat.

The little girl began to earn a prominent name, she started given out interviews to newspapers and TV Shows. She was named chairperson of the District Chid Assembly Swat. She was nominated by Nobel Price South African Winner Desmond Tutu for the International Children’s Peace Prize and she was the first Pakistan to ever won the National Youth Prize.

This little and remarkable fourteen year old was shot a few days ago because she was brave; she was shot because she had a voice. She still unconscious and the world awaits for her recovery. Apparently her dad’s life was on danger too.

There is a United Nations Petition using the slogan ” I am Malala” demanding that all children worldwide will attempt school by 2015. But more than a petition we must all pray for the life of this little Hero.

Thanks Malala I love you and admire you. Your Courage have to and must Change this World.

Soy Malala

La niña Paquistaní de catorce años Malala Yousafzai, conocida como blogger de la BBC y activista de los derechos infantiles en países islámicos, fue disparada en el cuello y en la cabeza el pasado nueve de octubre por un Taliban mientras ella regresaba a casa del colegio. Fue llevada casi inmediatamente a el Reino Unido donde, al parecer, tiene un buen chance de recuperarse. Recemos por eso.

Se deben preguntar por qué una niña de catorce años es una amenaza para el movimiento Taliban. Les cuento que a la edad de once años empezó a escribir un Blog para la BBC bajo un seudónimo donde hablaba del régimen Taliban y como trataban de controlar la villa donde ella vive. También empezó a escribir sus ideas sobre como promover y mejorar la educación de las niñas en la comunidad islámica.

Luego su vida fue filmada por The New York Times en un documental que se mezcló con la intervención militar de Paquistán en la región donde vive.

La pequeña empezó a convertiste en una eminencia, su nombre empezó a ser reconocido y aceptó ser entrevistada por diferentes medios de comunicación, tanto en prensa como televisión. Fue nombrara miembro del Distrito de Asamblea de Niños Swat. Fue nominada por Desmond Tutu, el Surafricano ganador del premio Nobel, para los Premios Internacionales de Niños por la Paz y fue la primera ganadora de Paquistán en recibir el premio Nacional de la Juventud.

La pequeña pero grandísima niña de catorce años sufrió un ataque contra a su integridad. Le dispararon por tener una voz y ser valiente. Sigue inconsciente y el mundo entero espera y reza por su recuperación. Al parecer la vida de su padre estaba en riesgo también.

Las Naciones Unidas bajo el slogan “Soy Malala” demanda que todos los niños a nivel mundial atiendan a las escuelas para el 2015.

Pero mas allá de una petición todos debemos rezar por esta pequeña heroína.

Gracias Malala Te Quiero y Admiro. Tu coraje debe y va a cambiar este Mundo.

A Caracas’ Weekend

Hace unas semanas atrás mi mama y yo tuvimos uno de esos fines de semanas caraqueños! Pero no el fin caraqueño del turista que visita a la ciudad, hicimos lo que el caraqueño local hace cuando decide no huir el caos de la misma durante el fin de semana. Cosa que yo viviendo allá tenia tiempo sin hacer!

Nuestro día empezó desayunando en Antigua un restaurant en las mercedes donde se como un desayuno de clase y con un costo razonable! Y luego nos dirigimos a la Galería de Arte Ascaso donde pudimos ver y a la vez interactuar con obras de Jesús Soto! Fantástico.

La tarde continuo visitando el Centro de Arte los Galpones el cual siempre presenta una variedad de diferentes mini expos de artes! Y este domingo en especial se estaba exponiendo interesantes fotos de Carlos Eduardo Hellmud!

A couple of weekends back my mom and I had the opportunity to enjoy the city of Caracas on a beautiful Sunday morning! Caracas being the chaotic city it is turns out to be quiet lovely when you live there and you get to enjoy it in peace! Its common for citizens of Caracas to flew away over the weekend just because the big capital gets in your nerves so deciding to stay and enjoy it with my mom was quiet pleasant.

We started our day visiting Antigua restaurant where we had a pleasant breakfast nothing too fancy but nothing too simple! Just perfect and well priced. Later we attended the Ascaso Art gallery where we enjoyed and interactive expose by Jesus Soto the impressionist Venezuelan artist!

Then we moved to the Centro de Artes Los Galpones, which is a place that always offers diverse expositions being very eclectic! But this particular Sunday we enjoyed a photographic exposition by Carlos Eduardo Hellmud!

Olympic Champ!

Con las olimpiadas a solo horas de comenzar debo admitir que me siento súper emocionada. He aprendido, dado a gratas experiencias que la vida me ha dado, que en todo tipo de evento deportivo donde el mundo entero se reúne se genera una fiesta de felicidad y paz; una sensación contagiosa e inolvidable. Para los atletas es inimaginable lo que se debe sentir. Los mismos tienen una concentración optima durante estos días previo a la inauguración de los juegos olímpicos, donde el foco es ganar, por eso me siento sumamente agradecida que mi amigo, atleta y campeón mundial Albert Subirats respondieras unas preguntas para mi humilde Blog. Albert conocido como el torpedo nació en Valencia, Venezuela en 1986 y ya es un veterano en esto de las olimpiadas, esta siendo su tercera participación en ellas. Portador de infinidad de medallas en competencias mundiales dejando el nombre de mi país en alto se puede afirmar que Albert es un verdadero atleta además de ser un amigo y una de las personas mas amable que he conocido. Aquí les dejo unos tips personales que nos conto el campeón!

A: Estar con mi familia y disfrutar de un día en la playa con ellos

With just a few hours for he Olympics Game to start I’m feeling super excited. Thanks to some wonderful experiences life has given me I have learned that when the world unites for any sports eventuality the spectator rejoices with happiness in a contagious peaceful and fun global party. For the athletes I think its unimaginable what they must be feeling and the amount of concentration they put on themselves for the Olympics Game it optimal and strict, that’s why I’m so thankful my friend, the athlete and a world swimming champion Albert Subirats took a little time to answer some personal questions for my humble blog. Albert who is globally known as “The Torpedo” was won in 1986 in Valencia Venezuela and this comes out to be his third participation at the Olympics Games. He has won and infinity number of medals on diverse competitions around the world putting the name of Venezuela on its highest and making us, Venezuelans, feel proud of him. He is discipline, he is kind and he is a friend. Here I leave you with some personal tips straight form the Champion.

G: What’s you Idea of happiness?

A: Being with my family and to enjoy a day on the beach with them.

G: What’s your greatest fear?

A: Being arrogant.

Dress to Impress

A little while ago I was invited to the wedding of one of my childhood friends, and well every time I have a special event like this one, I try on dressing the most suitable I can for it. Once again my good friend an amazing designer Alejandro Ramirez, head the @AR_ound designs, help me out and made me another beautiful, flawless, fashionable dress. An eggplant purple Sex and the City wide bell skit with a fitted top was my designed; adorned by a netted belt with a beautiful netted bow on its back and tulle glints coming out its bottom. It was so Haute Couture!

My accessories a pursed made out that aluminum thing that opens the Coca-Cola can, actually I got it at the Coca-Cola store in Atlanta (and I love it) and shoes by Ron White (The Skyiar Pump). My hairdo and makeup was Big Hair 60s inspired mixed with a softer makeup alluding to the very cute Carrie from Sex and the City Carrie, all done by Rey Sandoval (@reysandoval1 @dpelosrunway)a true artist and a great friend… I love my outfit and ensemble and it turn out confortable to have a fun memorable night.

Hace poco fui invitada a una boda de un amigo de esos de toda la vida y bueno cada vez que se me presenta un evento tan especial como este trato de vestir lo mas adecuado posible para el mismo. Una vez mas mi gran amigo y gran diseñador Alejandro Ramírez, conocido por su marca @AR_ound me ayudo con otra de sus hermosas creaciones. Un vestido color berenjena con una falda amplia tipo campana, de las vistas en la popular serie Sexo en la Ciudad, se completaba con un corpiño tallado al cuerpo y un cinturón de red negra que se convertía en un lazo en la parte posterior. La parte de abajo destellaban Tulles negros que junto los tacones de Ron White aludían a una creación de alta costura.

Mi carteta algo mas hip, hecha con esas chapas de aluminio que abren las latas de Coca-Cola (de hecho la compre en la tienda Coca-Cola en Atlanta y la amo) finalizaba esta especial obra de arte. Maquillaje y Peinado fue algo inspirado en los 60s llevando su fuerte vibra pero con el toque dulce y sofisticado de una Carrie en Sexo en la Ciudad hecho por mi gran amigo y artista Rey Sandoval (@reysandoval1 @depelosrunway).  A la final ame mi atuendo y me sentí muy cómoda en disfrutar lo que se convirtió una noche memorable!.

Jubilee Year!

From The New York Times, To Vogue and Laduree in France the whole world did a tribute to honor the Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth The II on the throne. The Scottish Whisky House known today as Johnnie Walker and Sons was not exception and created “Diamond Jubilee” probably their rarest whisky to honor the 60 years of the Queen on the throne. The Whisky for Diamond Jubilee is the precious remaining of liquid of whiskies distilled in 1952 the year the Queen assumed the throne of England. The caskets where the liquid was kept were made out of wood from the Queen’s trees at her private Sandringham Vacation estate and preserved in the Queen’s private Norfolk retreat. For 60 years this blended whisky, which would be the last of its kind on ways of making, was preserved to celebrate an unique and special occasion such as the Jubilee. Only 60 bottles out Baccarat Crystal with a diamond on the decanter’s neck were made and filled with the whisky and sold to private buyers over the world. Its price, one hundred thousand pounds! The decanter travelled the world including Venezuela, place were the bottle was exhibit on a very fancy party that your server (yes me) made for very special guests and a very special buyers whose name I swore secrecy not to reveal.

The party decorated with walls made out of green leaves and Swarovski crystals chandeliers took place at the house of the British ambassador in Venezuela and was merely a night of chicness and luxury lavishness. From British canapés (Made by a very special Chef known as Magu) to wonderful Macaroons  (Made by Julia DahDah) the party was an instinct success. Here some Pics!

Desde el New York Time, a Vogue y Laduree en Francia el mundo entero rindió tributo para honrar el Jubileo de la Reina Isabel II en el trono. La casa Escocesa de Whisky conocida como Johnnie Walker and Sons no fue la excepción y creo el “Diamond Jubilee” una mezcla de whisky considerada como exquisita en su rareza hecha para honrar los 60 años desde la coronación de la Reina. El liquido de este whisky es  lo que queda de diferentes whiskies destilados en 1952, el año que la Reina asumió el trono de Inglaterra. Las barricas donde se añejo este liquido especial fueron hechas con la madera de los arboles de las hectáreas privadas de la Reina en Sandringham y fueron preservaras en su el retiro privado en Norfolk. Durante 60 años, este tipo de whisky que es el ultimo en su forma de mezclarse, fue preservado para celebrar esta especial ocasión. Solo 60 botellas hechas de cristal de Bacarat con un diamante en el cuello del decantador fueron llenas con este whisky especial para ser vendidas a compradores privados alrededor del mundo. Su precio cien mil libras esterlinas! El decantador viajo el mundo incluyendo Venezuela, lugar donde la botella se exhibió en una fiesta muy especial que de hecho su servidora organizo repleta de invitados especiales incluyendo el comprador de la botella, secreto que jure nunca revelar!

La fiesta decorada con paredes de hiedras y hojas verde y candelabros de cristales Swarovski tomo lugar en la casa de la embajadora Británica en Venezuela y fue una noche de lujo y elegancia en su máxima expresión. Desde canapés Británicos (Hechos por la conocida chef Magu) a divinos Macaroons (Hechos por Julia DahDah) la fiesta fue un éxito rotundo! Aquí les dejo algunas fotos.
