Una de mis películas favoritas de todos los tiempos es el musical FUNNY FACE. La película me gusta porque la protagoniza Audrey Hepburn, una de mis artistas favoritas, también el hecho de que fue filmada entre Nueva York y Paris ayuda al favoritismo de la misma pero algo que de verdad me tomo de raíz fue la importancia que se le da a la moda en una película que se filmo en 1957. El opening scene de FUNNY FACE hace alusión a lo que hoy seria la oficina de Anna Wintour en Vogue, donde la Wintour ficcional discute el impacto que tiene la moda en tanto las personas como el comercio. El musical protagonizado por Audrey Hepburn, Fred Astaire, Kay Thompson y fue dirigido por Stanley Donen. Los escrito por Leonard Gershe. La batuta musical la llevo George y Ira Gershe y la parte fotográfica fue realizada por el magnífico, Richard Avedon.
Richard Avedon fue uno de los fotógrafos con más renombre en Nueva York y el Mundo. Avedon marco la historia de la fotografía en niveles épico sobretodo en la moda y el cine. Sus foto eran crudas, impecables y a su vez hermosa enamorando al mundo artístico y cultural. Su obituario cuando murió en el New York Times decía “Su modismo y fotografía de retratos ayudo a definir la imagen América con estilo, belleza y cultura”.

One of my favorite movies of all time is the musical FUNNY FACE. Audrey Hepburn being the leading actress is one of the main reasons of why I love this musical so much; also the fact it was shoot between New York and Paris furthers my enchantment; but what really did it was the importance that fashion has in a movie made in 1957. The opening scene shows an Anna Wintour type of Vogue Office, where the fictional Wintour gives out a speech about the impact that fashion has over people and commerce. Here I leave the clip. Also the movie elaborates scene where a photo shoot takes place and the dresses are just delightful, literally some of the most beautiful dresses I have seeing are in this musical. Here are the pics!
Audrey Hepburn, Fred Astaire, Kay Thompson are the leading actors in the musical which was directed by Stanley Donen. The script came in the hand of Leonard Gershe who along his Sibling Ira Gershe composed the musical aspects of the movie. The photography was made by the magnificent Richard Avedon.
Richard Avedon was one of the most prominent photographers that New York and the World have had. He delighted the showbiz crowed, making many great artist fall for his job. His pics at time were a bit raw, but beautiful and elegant. His impact was such that his New York Time obituary said “his fashion and portrait photographs helped define America’s image of style, beauty and culture for the last half-century”.
