I am Malala

The fourteen year old Pakistani girl, blogger and activist, Malala Yousafzai, was shot on October 9th by a Taliban gunmen as she returned home from her school.  She was taken to the UK after being shot in her head and neck. Thank God the doctors say she has a good chance to recover. Lets Hope So!.

You might wonder why a fourteen year old girl is such a threat to the Taliban movement. Well at the age of eleven she started blogging under a pseudonym for the BBC detailing her life under the Taliban rule, and how they attempted to control the valley where she lives. She also wrote her views on promoting girls education on islamic communities.

Her life was filmed by the New York Times in a documentary that got mixed with the Pakistani military intervening the region culminating the Second Battle of Swat.

The little girl began to earn a prominent name, she started given out interviews to newspapers and TV Shows. She was named chairperson of the District Chid Assembly Swat. She was nominated by Nobel Price South African Winner Desmond Tutu for the International Children’s Peace Prize and she was the first Pakistan to ever won the National Youth Prize.

This little and remarkable fourteen year old was shot a few days ago because she was brave; she was shot because she had a voice. She still unconscious and the world awaits for her recovery. Apparently her dad’s life was on danger too.

There is a United Nations Petition using the slogan ” I am Malala” demanding that all children worldwide will attempt school by 2015. But more than a petition we must all pray for the life of this little Hero.

Thanks Malala I love you and admire you. Your Courage have to and must Change this World.

La niña Paquistaní de catorce años Malala Yousafzai, conocida como blogger de la BBC y activista de los derechos infantiles en países islámicos, fue disparada en el cuello y en la cabeza el pasado nueve de octubre por un Taliban mientras ella regresaba a casa del colegio. Fue llevada casi inmediatamente a el Reino Unido donde, al parecer, tiene un buen chance de recuperarse. Recemos por eso.

Se deben preguntar por qué una niña de catorce años es una amenaza para el movimiento Taliban. Les cuento que a la edad de once años empezó a escribir un Blog para la BBC bajo un seudónimo donde hablaba del régimen Taliban y como trataban de controlar la villa donde ella vive. También empezó a escribir sus ideas sobre como promover y mejorar la educación de las niñas en la comunidad islámica.

Luego su vida fue filmada por The New York Times en un documental que se mezcló con la intervención militar de Paquistán en la región donde vive.

La pequeña empezó a convertiste en una eminencia, su nombre empezó a ser reconocido y aceptó ser entrevistada por diferentes medios de comunicación, tanto en prensa como televisión. Fue nombrara miembro del Distrito de Asamblea de Niños Swat. Fue nominada por Desmond Tutu, el Surafricano ganador del premio Nobel, para los Premios Internacionales de Niños por la Paz y fue la primera ganadora de Paquistán en recibir el premio Nacional de la Juventud.

La pequeña pero grandísima niña de catorce años sufrió un ataque contra a su integridad. Le dispararon por tener una voz y ser valiente. Sigue inconsciente y el mundo entero espera y reza por su recuperación. Al parecer la vida de su padre estaba en riesgo también.

Las Naciones Unidas bajo el slogan “Soy Malala” demanda que todos los niños a nivel mundial atiendan a las escuelas para el 2015.

Pero mas allá de una petición todos debemos rezar por esta pequeña heroína.

Gracias Malala Te Quiero y Admiro. Tu coraje debe y va a cambiar este Mundo.

When your Job its Fun

El pasado 12 de marzo tuve la fortuna de trabajar un evento que creo quedara en mi historia personal como uno de los momentos laborales mas preciados. La marca Buchanan’s Red Seal, el Whisky mas lujoso de la casa Buchanan’s, continuando la legacía de James Buchanan’s (un filantrópico nato) otorgo a la Fundación Maniapure una maleta única en su existencia. Esta maleta que destila un perfume de cuero deleitante, fue hecha para exhibir y guardar el whisky conocido como la Joya de Casa Buchanan’s. Esta no tiene valor monetario y es considerada tan valiosa que no se le puede dar un precio. Por esto la misma  será subastada o rifada y sus ganancias serán destinadas a el trabajo comunitario que realiza la fundación.

El Proyecto Fundación Maniapure es un proyecto familiar y de amigos que destina ayuda de tele-medicina y desarrollo integral a la región de Maniapure (Estado Bolívar).

Lo lindo de esta fundación es que se mantiene viva por la participación de una familia entera quien dedica su tiempo a esta misión filantrópica. La familia Sanabria, el doctor, su esposa, hijos, hijas y amigos realizan este lindo proyecto y gracias a ellos Diageo se sintió inspirado a ayudarlos y yo tuve la gran fortuna de trabajarles un lindo evento!

Last March 12th I had the fortune to work an event that I think will remain in my personal history as one of my job’s most cherished moments. The Whisky known as Buchanan’s Red Seal, the most luxurious whisky of the Buchanan’s house, continuing the labor of James Buchanans, a innate philanthropic, donated to the Venezuela foundation of Maniapure a suitcase that its unique in its existence. The suitcase that it’s so beautiful and elegant distills a leather aroma that mesmerizes anyone who is around it and it was merely made to exhibit the whisky known as the Jewel of the Buchanan’s House.  This precious piece of art has no monetary value to it because its considered so special that no price can be given to it; therefore it will be auctioned or raffle and its profits will be destined to the community labor done by the foundation.

EL PROYECTO FUNDACION MANIAPURE it’s a family and friends project that provides help to the region of Manipure in the state of Bolivar in Venezuela by using Tele-Medicine and promoting integral development.

The special thing about this foundation is that it’s kept alive by the full time participation of a family who truly dedicates all of their time to this philanthropic mission. The Sanabria Family, the doctor, the wife, the son and daughters and group of friends make this project a reality and its so successful and inspiring that Diageo felt compelled to help them and therefore I had the grate fortune to work a beautiful event.

Hay edades para todo en esta vida. Una joven verdaderamente elegante sabe la edad ideal para usar su primer diamante (al menos que sean circunstancias de compromisos, enlaces de amor o un par de zarcillos modestos a medida que se va creciendo) preferiblemente al entrar a los 27 años es cuando una joven puede lucir con propiedad ciertas joyas. Lo mismo aplica para las carteras, vale destacar que amo las carteras, hay ciertas edades para ciertas carteras. Mi primera gran cartera fue una Prada negra clásica, con bordados entrelazados en la misma con el logo de la marca y con solo 14 añitos cuando me la regalaron hoy en día sigue intacta. A mis 26 años, aunque no tengo de que quejarme pues siempre he podido lucir hermosas carteras, debo decir que mi cartera ideal, que en algún momento llegara, seria una perfecta y muy clásica Chanel Negra Quilted Bag. Y si bien confieso que de verdad espero pronto tenerla hay otra marca de carteras que considero que cualquier joven entre los 23 y 30 años debe tener. Esta marca se llama FEED y es la creación de la modelo activista Lauren Bush, quien el 2006 junto a una colaboración que realizo con la ONU creo una serie de carteras que hoy en día existe como mini marca importante cuya misión es elaborar productos respetando los derechos humanos laborales, usando materiales orgánicos que protegen el ambiente y que a su vez en ganancias lograr alimentar regiones del mundo que sufren de desabastecimiento alimenticio. Por cada producto se informa cuantas personas y niños son alimentados, por ejemplo comprando el FEED 1000 CLUTCH, hecho en una colaboración con Judith Leiber, que cuesta 495$ 1000 meriendas son entregadas para el programa de alimentación de las Naciones Unidas Mundo. Hay productos mas económicos con diferentes impactos pero todo con una sola misión, alimentar al mundo hoy en día se han entregados 67, 834, 943 comidas.

Honestamente aquí les digo no vale de nada tener las mejores carteras del mundo sin no tienes UNA FEED.

There’s an aged for everything; for example I think that unless a girl is going through special circumstances (engagements, family gifts, or a pair of little earing as one grows up) the perfect aged for one to be wearing diamonds should be in her late twenties, about 27 years old. The same happens with purses. I love purses and I have had them since I was a 14-year-old baby, a classic Prada night pursed with knitted laces with the brand name on it… Still got it by the way. Now in my 26 years of aged I think a Chanel Classic Black Quilted Bag should be appropriate, and I’m sure some how it will make its way to me, but I also know that it means nothing having all those beautiful bags unless you have a FEED Bag.  FEED is a brand that model- activist Lauren Bush started in 2006 when she did a collaboration with the UN to sell accessories at the UN store and it was so well received that now days it’s a brand of its own, and important brand. The concept of the brand is to respect human labor laws, fair trade and the used of organic materials to be environmentally friendly. Also each products profits serves to literally feed a group of people or kids within certain countries and organizations of the UN. For example if one buys a FEED 1000 Clutch made out of a collaboration with Judith Leiber at 495$ a 1000 meals are deliver to kids in the UN World Feed program. Of course there are cheaper products with different impacts the mission itself has provided 67, 834, 943 meals too feed the world.

Personally I think it’s pointless for a fashion or bag lover not to have a FEED bag, its just not elegant or proper of someone who owns one fine bag.

Fashion-Charity HAND TO HAND

La diseñadora Londinense Vivienne Westwood presento su colección en Londres y fue magnifica! La autora del vestido en el cual Carrie Bradshaw es abandonada en el altar no decepciono con una colección simplemente hermosa. Fiel a su creencia y amor por la tierra, por lo básico su colección tiene un sentimiento muy natural. A su vez fiel a lo que la primavera del 2012 presentara la combinación de estampados con colores y tonalidades de diferente colores predomino la pasarela. La simplicidad rige esta colección y hasta sus trajes mas elaborados se ven frescos, naturales y simples. Lo mas hermoso de esta colección fue la carta presentada a sus invitados. La carta en Ingles la traduciré párrafo por párrafo. Es importante amar a la moda, es importante que la moda refleje la realidad del mundo y a su vez una visión un estilo. Pero lo mas importante es que la moda cree importancia para ayudar a las diferentes caridades que se esfuerzan en ayudar a diferentes personas. La moda no es frívola es un agente que debe transmitir un mensaje importante y Vivienne hace esto muy bien.

London base designer Vivienne Westwood presented her spring 2012 collection in London and it was mesmerizing. The author of the dress that Carrie Bradshaw wore as Mr. Big never showed up didn’t disappoint, the runway was plain beautiful. Faithfull to her personality Westwood’s love for earth and nature showed giving an earthy natural feeling to her clothes. At the same time, following what will be the trend for spring 2012 simplicity took a big role in the collection. Even her most elaborate outfits, her nightdresses, which are the epiphany of elegance, are simple. Also various vibrant colors were combined with different print and the missed matching vibe keeps on showing. Nevertheless what was the most beautiful was the letter Vivienne presented to her guest during her fashion show. The letter below along with pictures of her collection; I considered to be important to love fashion, to have fashion be a mirror of what the world is today. I think it’s important for fashion to translate a vision, a passion I believe its art. But what its most important in fashion is the awareness it can cause in others. To send the message that it’s not frivolous and that it’s important to believe in helping other. Vivienne does this quiet well!
